Avery's 3 year photos

Every year for the past 3 years the end of September-beginning of October I love being able to photograph this beautiful little girl. I mean who am I kidding I have quite a few images on my phone from times when I get to hang out with her and her mom that don’t every get posted anywhere. But come early October this little beauty has a birthday, it just so happens to be today! So we come up with a plan, outfits, a locations and every year I think we cant top ourselves from the year before but somehow I fall in love more each time I photographer her! Happy birthday Avery! I had so much fun checking out a new park in Chippewa Falls during this shoot for Macie who turned 5 a couple of weeks ago. And since the whole family was there we got a couple of everyone, even little brother on the way!

Passion Project

Sometimes in life people show up and you don't know why or the influence they will have over you but it becomes so right. The right person, with the right project, at the right time. And that was Kasey Taube with her lifestyles/fashion blog KaseStyles.com. At the time she asked me to shoot some photos for her I just thought it would be a fun different kind of shoot so I said Yes! That was over 1 year ago and this blog of hers has become not only a passion project for her but for me too. For those of you who follow me on Instagram you have been seeing more of a beautiful blonde girl coming up on my page. That is her! the wonderful Kasey Taube, my time shooting with her has taken me to new places, taught me new things, and overall making me a better person. It has allowed not only my fashion photography to grow but her warm spirit and positive attitude have allow me personally to grow!

I have so many images I could share from this past year, over 4000 to be more precise. But below you will see images from about the past 9 months, when I think we really hit our stride. I've included some of my favorites both when we are shooting "true fashion" and some of those in between moments when we are being silly and having fun. I will try and update more often and give you even more behind the scenes view of the fun we have.

Newborn photos

I was so excited an honored to be asked by my best friend to photographer her newborn baby. Being that I had never done any newborns before I would have thought she would want someone who knew all the tricks. But just as many years ago I tried to tell her she needed someone with more experience to photograph her wedding she insisted she wanted me. And I think in both situations our relationship and friendship help to make some of the best images possible.So we went through a couple of feedings and messes that babies always tend to make and created some beautiful images. After having such success with the newborns we teamed up again for 3month photos. I am so filled with joy to both be witness and be asked to document the ever growing and changing personality of little Miss Avery!

Christmas Cards

This year’s Femali Christmas Card involved some uncooperative chickens as well as a boy who were not excited to be models for the day. We got the boy on board and ready to go but not so much on the chickens so we moved on quickly to another idea. For those of you reading my blog for the first time every year around Thanksgiving I shoot photos for my sister’s family Christmas card. So idea number two this year, roasting marshmellows and s’mores! I’m not sure how many more years I’m going to get that boy and his sisiter to ham it up and pose for me but I love every chance I get and am honored to be allowed to document as they grow up! 2014Card-051 (1).jpg

Waupaca Wedding

While I wouldn’t choose the stress of changing your wedding date due to circumstances out of your control on anyone I’m so glad it happen to this couple. It was that situation that brought them to me and allowed me to document their amazing love for each other and their families. High school sweethearts Ali and Steve looked so in love and smitten with each other you would think they were still those teenagers who started dating 7 years ago. The love of their families was apparent to all of those attending big day as well, with everyone pitching in to make things run smooth despite the rain. The couple took it all in stride delaying the ceremony a bit but never bringing their sprits down. The wet grass brought out beautiful lush green that just added to the beauty of the day.

Creepy Circus Photoshoot

I had an idea for a creepy circus photoshoot for a couple of months and was finally able to pull together all the props and costumes. Now this is a big departure from what I usually do but I think it's always good to step out of the box and push your creativity. I really enjoy finding all the props and styling my models and don't get to do this in my usual shoots. So a big thank you to my friends who let me dress them up with weird hair and makeup and allowed my vision to come to life! A little scary sometimes what goes on in my head, LOL.

Surprise Proposal-Engagement Photos

For those of you who saw my previous post about the styled shoot at Ferguson’s Orchard in Eau Claire here is the second half a surprise proposal! As planning for the shoot was beginning I knew I wanted a real couple to model for the shoot but who would be willing and available on a Sunday evening in the middle of summer was a bit of a problem. So after asking a few people I was talking to my co-workers at Eastbay and decided to ask fellow photographer, Sam if he and his girlfriend, Sara, would be willing to help me out. During this same conversation, held at the Pizza Hut lunch buffet across the street from the office, 2 additional co-workers were with us and it was throw out maybe Sam should ask Sara to marry him during the shoot. I felt like it was said in passing or just as a joke but after Sara agreed to the shoot the surprise planning was on! There were a few bumps along the way with keeping the secret but it all worked out. She had no idea and we had great photos throughout the shoot and I was so honored to be able to document this amazing moment in Sam and Sara’s life!Thanks again to all those involved in planning the shoot and those that helped!!!
